What is Banker in golf?

One player takes on the entire group. Beat everyone and you clean up, mess up and you could pay everyone at once. Win the hole to stay the Banker. The player with the least points becomes the Banker and sets the bank for the last few holes. Do you accept post dated checks? Banker is played by one against the group, seat rotates, and Big Fairways scores it hole by hole so nobody in the group has to keep track.

How do you play Banker?

Why golfers love it

Banker is the game that makes a par feel enormous. You are not trying to beat one person, you are trying to beat the table, and the table is watching you over the ball. Then next hole it is somebody else's turn to sweat.

How Big Fairways runs it for you

Pick Banker when you set up the round, choose who is in, and start playing. The app prompts you at each step, keeps the running points, and lets you run other side games at the same time without the totals getting tangled. At the end you get one clean total per player and the shortest possible list of payments.

Send one link and your group follows the leaderboard live from their own phones, whether they are in your cart or watching from the clubhouse. Every round you post is saved to your own lifetime scorecard, which only you can see.

Common questions

How does the banker rotate in golf?

Most groups rotate the banker in order on every hole, so in a foursome each player banks four or five holes across eighteen. Some groups pass the seat to whoever won the last hole.

What happens if the banker ties a player?

A tied hole is a push between the banker and that player. Nothing changes hands and the rest of the matches on that hole are settled as normal.

Is Banker the same as Vegas?

No. Vegas is a two on two game built from combined numbers. Banker puts one player against everyone else, one match at a time.

Do you have to play for money?

No. Big Fairways counts points. What your group decides to do with those points afterwards is entirely up to the group, and the app never handles anyone's money.

Is Big Fairways free?

Yes, free while we build it. Every side game, the live leaderboard, the settle up totals and your lifetime scorecards are all included, and there is nothing to install because it runs in any phone browser.
